I started VerifiedHuman in 2023 because I care about the people who make things. A piece of writing, a photograph, a song or a voice performance can represent years of practice and lived experience. I want people who value that human craftsmanship to be able to find the people doing it.
I lead the writing and design, work with technical collaborators on the website, and write back personally to the people who join. I also help tell their stories.
Finding the right standard.
The homepage starts with what we want for our members: make your human work recognizable. Then we help them find the standard for the work they do. A writer can read what the mark means for a book or article. A voice actor can see what it means for a performance. Each person needs to understand the commitment they’re making.
Getting to know the people.
I want you to meet the people in the Collective and see what they make. We’ve put a good deal of work into finding their photographs and linking to their writing, art, music and performances. You can look through a field that interests you or search for someone by name. From there, you can go and explore their work.
Joining should be straightforward.
When someone is ready to join, we ask them to tell us about themselves and their work, then make the commitment for their field. We’ve made that a two-step form and explained what will appear in the Collective and what stays private.
Joining is free. People can support us financially if they’d like to, and they can decide what to give or come back to it later. I read the submissions and write back personally.
